WHAT CLIENTS SAY
“Ms. Mayer is flexible and knows our business best.”
“Her knowledge of our company's individual needs stands out to me.”
Colette Reiner Mayer focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation and arbitration, primarily high-technology patent and trade secret litigation. Ms. Mayer has litigated cases relating to a wide range of technologies, including semiconductor design and manufacture, data compression, cosmetic polymers, mobile application distribution systems, videoconferencing systems, sports trading cards, and data storage systems. She also counsels companies regarding FinTech products and services, including blockchain. In addition to litigation, Ms. Mayer frequently advises companies regarding pre-litigation risk assessment.
Ms. Mayer is vice chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee. She was part of the Morrison & Foerster pro bono team that worked alongside Advocates for Children of New York to secure a favorable settlement for hundreds of public school children who were denied a public school education in Brooklyn, New York. More recently she worked with the team that secured a preliminary injunction requiring the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol to improve conditions in its Arizona Detention Facilities. The firm and co-counsel sued over the deplorable conditions within the cells, which were initially designed as temporary holding facilities. Through court-ordered expedited discovery, the team obtained photos of the conditions, which were later widely publicized. The firm was named to Law360’s 2016 list of the nation’s top pro bono firms. MoFo is one of only two firms that have been honored every year since the list’s inception.
